There are different ways to fight and prevent diseases through food like;
- Cutting down the foods which aren’t healthy, I.e. Red meat (as it contains fats) and sugar.
- Start taking healthy foods, I.e. White meat and vegetables.
People usually start with the cutting down method, which is the most common way but eating the right food is the most effective.
Here I will discuss the foods that strengthen, boost, and support each defence system.
- Angiogenesis
To strengthen angiogenesis, we should eat more the following foods in our regular diet;
- Soybeans
- Tomatoes
- Cheese
- Seafood
- Chicken
- Coffee
- Red wine

If we take the example of soybeans, it was the first food detected, which impacts angiogenesis. Various researches have shown that taking soybeans rich foods decreases the risk of cancers like breast cancer and prostate cancer (Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that appears in the prostate gland, which is in the lower abdominal area, male specifically) as well as coronary artery disease (The arteries which supply highly oxygenated blood to the heart narrows down or block due to plaque build-up, that might result in heart attack, is called coronary artery disease)
Theodore Fotsis, a Greek scientist, discovered in 1993 that Japanese people who take soy-rich foods, their urine contains genistein (A compound that helps block the growth of four different types of cancer cells.)
- Regeneration
To support our stem cells which are responsible for regeneration following foods are so beneficial;
- Dark chocolate
- Green tea
- Fish oil
- Green beans
- Raspberries
- Beer

Taking the example of green tea, in a study, Korean and Japanese researchers found that if we take four cups of green tea per day for two weeks, it increases the number of stem cells in our body by 43%.
- Microbiome
Following foods strengthen and support our microbiome;
- Kimchi
- Sauerkraut
- Cheddar cheese
- Sourdough bread

Sauerkraut is fermented raw cabbage. It’s fermented through various lactic acid bacteria. It’s very beneficial need to be included in our diets. North Carolina State University’s scientists discovered that’s Lactobacillus Plantarum is present in sauerkraut, usually present in commercial probiotics. This bacteria contains a lot of health benefits; for example, it stimulates an anti-inflammatory response in intestinal stem cells.
- DNA Protection
Following foods strengthen our DNA;
- Spinach
- Carrots
- Red peppers
- Lentils
- Navy beans
- Mushrooms
- Eggs
- Cod live oil
- Sardines
- Mackerel

These foods contain micronutrients (I.e. Vitamin A, B, C, D and E) which are the building blocks of DNA. People usually take supplements of these nutrients but always keep in mind eating foods that contain these nutrients is more beneficial than taking their supplements. So add the foods which contain these nutrients to your regular diet instead of taking the supplements.
- Immunity
To stimulate our immune system efficiency, consume the following foods;
- Mushrooms
- Garlic
- Broccoli sprouts
- Blueberries
- Oranges
- Strawberries
- Chilli peppers
- Pacific oysters

If we ponder over these options, a lot of them we already take, all we need to do is take them in proper proportions and include some more. Being healthy doesn’t mean that we have to cut out on our foods. All we need to do is opt for the right choices and include a few more healthy options in our regular diet. This way, we will stay healthy and contended.
